Richmond's Jarrell Baskfield was selected as one of seven visual artists to participate in Nike's "Cultivator" program to design a trio of Nike sneakers, inspired by personal creative interests. The ODU graduate and freelance designer chose to base the subject of his designs on three grounded topics that society has struggled to address in the appropriately named "The Current Conditions" Collection.
My collection is dedicated to my vision for supporting current issues and situations. "The Red Ribbons." were made to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in the world "The Bevy." was made to support unity and justice. "The Flints" were made to raise Awareness in the lead-poisoned water in Flint, Michigan.
